Senior Occupational Health Advisor (REF 1542)

Role Summary 

To support the clinical manager to ensure the clinical team deliver and maintain the highest standards of healthcare in line with Optima Health’s standards and ensuring the client’s expectations are delivered.

Experience, skills and knowledge required for the role;

• Previous experience as SOHA or extensive OHA experience within the NHS

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Good organisational skills both to manage own workload and the workflow of the clinical team

• Problem solving skills to plan workable solutions to identified issues

• Excellent computer skills

Clinical Governance & Practice

• Approved processes, through Optima Health’s clinical & quality governance are followed

• Ensure all clinical practices are ethical, appropriate and evidence based

• Assist in reviewing & implementing occupational health standards, policies and SOPs

• Conduct clinical audits of OHAs & OHNs

OH Nurses

• Induction of OH nurses

• Identify training needs to maintain skills and competence

• On-going training

• Provide mentoring, support and coaching

• Ensure OHNs keep complete and accurate health records for clients in relation to PreEmployment screening, immunisations, BBV incidents and blood test results

• Ensuring OHNs provide an accurate account of advice, decisions made, care delivery and information shared as required by the NMC Code of professional conduct and statutory requirements.

Service Delivery

• Assist the clinical manager in recruitment of clinical staff to maintain required staffing levels to deliver contract requirements

• Effective planning of resource • Understand customer requirements and KPIs

• To administer vaccinations, carry out venepuncture and undertake case management to clients at multiple clinic sites when required

• Regular liaison with designated customer personnel and presence at meetings and events

• Flu planning for contracts

• Attendance at infection control meetings as required
